Thermore® Offers ‘Smart’ Insulation
Thermore®, provider of thermal insulation, is offering its T98® Dynamic self-adjusting “smart” thermal insulation, which is made from a special blend of polyester fibers and temperature sensitive polymers, and can be worn during varying weather conditions.

As “smart” insulation, T98 Dynamic’s thermal resistance actually changes with changing weather conditions. Thermal gates (chemical micro spaces) comprise its unique structure. During colder conditions, these thermal gates are “closed” and maximum thermal efficiency is achieved. As the temperature becomes warmer, the thermal gates begin to “open” allowing excess heat to escape.

This ability to accommodate different conditions makes the product an ideal insulation for coping with changeable weather conditions, the company reports. When compared to traditional insulation, this ongoing adjustment helps keep the wearer in the comfort zone over a wider range of temperatures.

End uses for the insulation include the ski, snowboarding and mountain wear markets, as well as everyday fashion. It is offered in three thickness options per weight: Compact, super compact and ultra compact, so that the finished product can be perfectly tailored to the end use.

Additionally, the company is offering Rinnova®thermal insulation made with fibers from recycled plastic bottles. Thermore reports that using Rinnova in place of traditional polyester insulation can save enough energy to light a 100-watt light bulb for an average of 30 hours.

Rinnova is used in snowboard apparel, gloves and fashion outerwear produced by companies including: Blacks, Burton, Fay (Tods), Kenneth Cole, Nike, Timberland and Zegna
